Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, about 2 hours east of Grand Junction and 3 hours west of Denver,
lies a small running jewel called Gunnison, Colorado. Sage Burner Trail Race is hosted in the Hartman Rocks Recreation Area. Nearby to Black Canyon National Park, the race is true to its name, as the hills are covered in sage brush. The unique 360 degree views of the Maroon Bells, San Juan Mountains, and the Gunnison Basin, make for a great day out on the trails.
The race offers some technical slickrock, some smooth singletrack, and doubletrack for speed, but don't be fooled by this deceptively tough course. The rolling hills & punchy climbs, paired with a high desert climate, makes this race a true test of your grit.
